This is such a great companion piece to how I am feeling with what I just published - I'm ashamed to say I've read nothing by Doctorow, but I'm starting today. As an amateur theater geek director, I had a really hard time with the musical Ragtime, but it's time to hit the book and see what's different. You write with such emotion, and I get you about writing about politics. I can remember the nights I would compose complete opinion pieces in my head, and then never remember them - or do an thing with them- in the morning. That is changing now! I'm glad we hooked up on line!!

You must read 'Ragtime'! The movie was fine but only told a small portion of the stories in the book. The braiding of those individual stories is what makes it great. Everything connects, everything resonates.
I cringed when I heard they were making a musical of it. NO!! Sacrilege! I can't even imagine...
